Sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are serious subjects to us. We do everything in our power to deal with the world in which we live. This is not only a priority in the quality our guests expect from us, we also want this ourselves. That is why we distinguish ourselves with the highest attainable Green Key label.
Green Key is the international quality mark for the tourism and recreational industry as for meeting and congress locations. Organisations with a Green Key quality mark are working serious and controllable on sustainability and CSR. The Green Key guarantees the obligatory effort to do more about the environment than the law restricts. The Golden Green Key is the highest attainable quality mark.
Good to know: BCN is the proud owner of a Golden Green Key for all locations. We are constantly shaping and keeping alive our CSR. All of our 200 meeting rooms are supplied with 100% sustainable power, which great part of it contains of wind energy. In addition, we only use paper with the FSC-quality mark.
We thank the Golden Green Key to the fact that put as many honest and healthy products on the menu. For example we have a wide variety of Fair-Trade products like bananas, pineapples, chocolate, juices and portions sweet spreads. In addition, our products are mostly biologic and we follow the “Food Choice Guidelines” of the Dutch Nutrition Center. So you know we paid attention to the amounts of calories, saturated fats, trans fats, added sugar, salt and fibres.
BCN keeps op developing and is willing to give other organisations, charities and sustainable companies a chance. That is why we serve Café Intención at all locations. This is a 100% Arabica melange provided with both the Fairtrade as the EKO quality mark. Together we contribute to a better live and work environment for the small farmers in third world countries.
The intitior of Café Intención, family company J.J. Darboven, is one of the first licensees of the Max Havelaar foundation who keeps an eye on fair coffee trade. The foundation supports multiple charities in which we contribute too.
As the first meeting and training location we received the quality mark “Hospitable for Vegetarians” from the Dutch Vegetarian Union. This means that we serve a minimum of two vegetarian main dishes on our buffet. These dishes do not contain ingredients as animal broth or gelatine. The eggs we use in our restaurant are free range eggs or biological origin.
